This week, Samsara announced our Holiday Heroes — Helen Coello, Andy Schultz, and Paul Greenwood — three exceptional individuals who went above and beyond to keep operations running smoothly during the holiday season. Over the past few weeks, we received an outpouring of nominations from teams who were eager to share stories about their incredible colleagues and peers. From timely package deliveries to safe winter roads, these unsung heroes made the holidays happen. While we can only share a few of their stories, each one captures the spirit of service that defines our industry. Here’s a glimpse at some of the inspiring stories we read over the past few weeks. 

Meet the people who make your holidays possible

James Roberts, a Werner Enterprises driver, wears his Santa suit every Christmas and delivers packages, working through the holidays to ensure families receive their gifts on time. Greg Reed, a Garland Sanitation driver, also transforms into Santa during his routes, taking time to connect with families and check on residents.

Russell Mitchell and the Superior Rigging team worked tirelessly at the Atlanta airport to build new terminals and gates for holiday travel. 

As a marine coordinator, Bailey Spooner at Boluda remained on call throughout the holiday season to coordinate between customers, ship owners, agents, and crews to make sure vessels got the support they needed. “He does this with a smile on his face and it enables a few of his colleagues to spend quality time with family as he carries on,” his nominator wrote. 

James Grealis of Brian Cunningham Transport launched a fundraiser for his local hospital's special care baby unit, raising €60,000 toward a vital piece of medical equipment.

As the main point of contact for hundreds of customers, SS Service Corp’s Briana Heroux has a positive attitude that makes a real impact. “She is a true leader in the office and field; there is no challenge too big or small. This place couldn't run without her,” her nominator wrote. 

After Hurricane Helene, Paul Liverman of Cornerstone Building Brands spent weeks using his own time and equipment to clear roads and driveways in his community in Elizabethton, Tennessee. 

With 200+ trucks, plows, and other pieces of equipment, Brandy Truedel at Urban Life Solutions made sure that snow was cleared everywhere from city transit locations to mall parking lots across Calgary, Canada so residents could enjoy a safe holiday season. 

Peter Piskor and his team at Portage Transport worked tirelessly through winter storms to coordinate deliveries and help drivers stuck in blizzard conditions, while also arranging community support for holiday deliveries. 

Jessie Barrow at DHL is dedicated to safety on and off the road and goes out of her way to ensure every package is delivered with care during any season. Udo Kaufmann and Ben Bazinet at Urban Life Solutions in Alberta, Canada helped keep roads safe and accessible through winter weather. 

In Asheville, North Carolina, Devin Jacobs turned his school bus into a lifeline for families affected by flooding when he drove door-to-door delivering food and basic necessities to families in need.

Nikki Angeles at Super Transport International rushed to assist a driver on Christmas who had collided with a deer late at night, making sure he was able to get home safely. 

Morris Davis at Gator Towing and Recovery rescued a woman from her car stranded on train tracks, putting her safety first.

Justo Garcia keeps Quirch Foods' busiest distribution center running through the holiday season, managing day and night shifts while serving as an active military member and caring for his three young children.
